UPDATE: Mimi has been adopted! It took a little longer for this cat to find a home. But Mimi, the only animal who didn't get adopted during a two-day adoption event, didn't have to spend too much time by herself before finding her purrfect forever home. A couple took her home on Wednesday afternoon.
It was a joyous day at Brampton Animal Services in Ontario—for everybody, that is, except one little cat.
Only a few days ago, Mimi the cat was one of many at the Ontario shelter, surrounded by other kitties also waiting to find new human families. The shelter held a two-day adoption event, which was a huge success by any standards: 18 kittens, 7 cats, a couple of bunnies and one dog found homes.
In fact, all of these cards hanging proudly at the shelter represent a happy ending:
There's only one card missing. And it belongs to Mimi the cat.
In all the clamor of meetings, cuddles, and adoption success stories, the 1-and-half-year-old cat got left behind.
Cassy Viterbo, a kennel attendant at Brampton, says that being overlooked is no reflection on Mimi's lovability or purrsonality. Sometimes, someone just gets left behind.
Mimi's situation could change, again, in a hurry.
"We've had some calls today from people who saw him on our Facebook page," Viterbo tells The Dodo. "They're coming in sometime today, so fingers crossed that they take her home."
Who could resist this face?
