People often speak of the undying loyalty dogs show their humans—but cats are capable of just as much love and loyalty. Maybe even more.
Back in February of this year, a Facebook user by the name of Keli Keningau Prayitno posted several photos of a cat who spends all his time at the same grave. Keli would walk past the cemetery every morning, where she always spotted the cat near one particular headstone—marking the grave of a woman named Kundari from Kebumen, Central Java.
Kundari had rescued the cat as a small, feral kitten from the streets of Kebumen. She refused to leave the tiny feline, and now he refuses to leave her—although Keli writes that when the cat is hungry, he walks a considerable distance to the home of Kundari's son for food and cuddles.
He and Keli have both tried to adopt the cat permanently, but unswerving feline refuses to leave his forever human's side. Since Keli first posted the pictures in February, area locals have made a point of bringing food to the kitty, and keeping him company in the cemetery, so that he doesn't have to leave off his vigil or spend all his time alone.
It's nearly impossible to describe the bond that can develop between a loving human and an equally loving cat—but this is one of those times when a picture is worth a thousand words. We hope this kitty someday allows himself to love another human. In the meantime, we share in his grief and stand in awe of his fierce, undying dedication.
