Nala the rescue cat overcame incredible odds—traveling across 2 states while heavily pregnant—just so she could do what every mama deserves the chance to do.
Deliver her babies in safety.
"We got Nala from a high kill shelter 2 states away. She was very pregnant and no one any closer would help her. A transport chain was arranged to get Nala to [Here Kitty Kitty Rescue] Indiana," Jennifer Adams Gillispie of Here Kitty Kitty Rescue told Love Meow. "One morning [about a week later], we went to run errands. We were only gone 2 hours and came home and found Nala had had 6 kittens. They were all very tiny, especially the only girl. We watched the babies very closely the first few days, weighing them every day. Much to everyone's relief all 6 kittens are steadily gaining weight."The kittens are doing well despite being very tiny, and Nala—practically a baby herself at only 1 year old—is proving to be mama of the year! When the kittens are big enough, they and their mom-cat will be adopted out into forever homes.
