Cop Rescues Kitten Left In The Rain And Now They're Fighting Crimes Together

Cop Rescues Kitten Left In The Rain And Now They're Fighting Crimes Together

You've gotta be KITTEN me!  You may think dogs have the crime-fighting racket all sewn up ("Turner and Hooch," anyone?), but that's only because you've never met Squirt the Crime-Fighting Kitty.  Squirt started life as a street-wise stray, but his fortunes changed for the much-much-better the day he crossed paths with a kindly police officer (who goes by the name of DonutOperator on Instagram).  Found beneath a Dumpster in desperate need of some TLC, Squirt was taken in by the big-hearted policeman...and the rest is history.

Shy Shelter Dog FLIPS OUT After Realizing He's Been Adopted

Shy Shelter Dog FLIPS OUT After Realizing He's Been Adopted

Oh, what a difference a day makes!  Animal rescue can be grueling work, but nothing makes it worthwhile as much as seeing the sheer transformative joy in the face of an animal whose life has been saved by human kindness.

Case in point: Benny.  Not as outgoing as some dogs--although thoroughly loving at heart--Benny's time was almost up.  He'd landed at the Carson Animal Care Center, a high-kill shelter in Gardena, California.  For weeks, Benny languished in his kennel, consistently overlooked.  Until the day one human family showed up and said the magic words: "We're taking him home."  If you can hold back happy tears at seeing Benny's unbridled ecstasy upon realizing that he has his forever family at last, you're better than we are!

The only thing as good as living with an animal is saving an animal's life.  Adopting from shelters lets you do both.  To learn about adopting a pet, or to find out other ways you can help, visit your local animal shelter.

Rescued Foxes Won’t Leave Their Savior's Side

Rescued Foxes Won’t Leave Their Savior's Side

Homer’s Heroes come in all shapes and sizes.  And some of them come from as far away as County Kilkenny in Ireland.

Patsy Gibbons found two abandoned fox pups and, while most people would simply have done nothing, devoted himself to nursing them back to health.  Grainne and Minnie, as the pups were eventually named, made a full recovery—but, rather than returning to the wild, in loyal canine fashion chose to remain with their human savior instead.

Beloved by local children, Gibbons, Grainne and Minnie have been on the receiving end of many invitations to speak in local schools.  Gibbons often makes such appearances, welcoming the opportunity to give students some hands-on exposure to the importance of humane treatment of wildlife.

"I now have people from all over the country and indeed the UK asking me for advice on looking after foxes," Gibbons told the Irish Examiner.  "I'm no expert and I'm still learning from them day-to-day (but) I'm happy to advise as a lay person." (h/t:designyoutrust,irishexaminer)
