Sometimes we can't help but wish our fur-babies would stay kittens forever. For one lucky Homer's Hero—who rescued a cat from dire circumstances—that dream will come true.
Godiva was just 8 weeks old when her litter was surrendered to Happy Homes Animal Rescue—saved from a hoarding situation where unspayed cats were breeding out of control.
Godiva was clearly the runt of the litter, but concern grew as weeks passed and she didn't seem to grow at all.
She was eating normally, and her vet gave her Vitamin B shots to help her absorb as many nutrients as possible from her food.
After months went by with little growth, however, Godiva's vet suggested that she might suffer from dwarfism caused by her rough start in life, meaning she would remain kitten-sized.
Amy, the forever mom who adopted Godiva, tells HiHomer, "She originally came on as a foster with the intention of adopting her out. But over time I fell in love with her and with concerns for her not growing and potential health issues, I decided to adopt her myself."
Godiva has grown a little bit, but still looks like an 8-week-old kitten even though she's now 6 months.
Not that Godiva lets her tiny size slow her down! Despite her diminutive stature, "she is active, playful, affectionate, and intelligent," says Amy.
As the saying goes, good things come in small packages!
