An anonymous angel just made the animals—and humans!—of the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA very, very happy.
On Wednesday, the shelter staff were shocked to discover a mysteriously full donation box. Someone—nobody knows who—had donated $8000 in crisp, new twenties. Then she or he disappeared into the California afternoon without leaving a name or receiving any thanks.
For the shelter, which cares for some 12,000 animals every year, the sudden cash bonus comes as a welcome—and much-needed—surprise.
"We are overjoyed by the generosity of this anonymous donation," a spokesperson from the facility told The Dodo. "We are incredibly grateful and extend a huge thank you to the mystery donor. Whoever you are, thank you so much for your generosity. Your donation will go towards all the animals in our care."
An $8000 donation is a tremendous gift, but you don't need to give nearly that much to help animals in need. Smaller donations can make a big difference, too. And shelters can always use an extra set of hands or foster parents to give rescue animals the love they sorely need until they find their forever homes.
