Rescuers may deserve vacations, but they rarely get them. Tania Cappelluti, a founding member of Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue in western NC, was vacationing in Costa Rica when she came upon a sight that made her pull her car over immediately—a stray dog, in sorry shape, wandering along the side of the road.
When Tania stepped out of her car, the dog collapsed and started crying. The stray, who Tania later named Gaia, was covered in fleas and ticks, and she was badly dehydrated.
Gaia could barely keep herself standing. It didn't take much, however, for the puppy to get her energy back.
The next step was something that Tania and Charlie's Angels were already experts at — finding Gaia a home.
Tania found Gaia a foster family with help from Osa Peninsula Rescue & Adoptions.
They placed Gaia with Devon Storaynat a community farm until they could find her a true forever home. It didn't take long.
A French woman with a beautiful house in Puerto Jimenez fell in love with Gaia. Gaia went to live with the woman almost immediately, and they're living their best lives together.
Thanks to a simple act of kindness, two lives have been transformed. That's definitely something to high five about! We wish Gaia and her new mom a long and happy life.
