Sometimes even a sad beginning can lead to the happiest possible ending—and this is one of them! Two years ago, a momma cat and her litter of six were put inside a box and abandoned on a Florida street. The animals were rescued by Broward County Animal Care.
It didn't take long for one of the staff members, Amanda Kruczynski, to fall in love with the kittens and take them all at home.
Among the litter, there was one who was obviously different than the rest – Meeseeks. Tinier than his brothers and sisters and not prone to a lot of movement, Meeseeks had a very peculiar coat of fur that made him look more like a plush toy that a live cat.
When people first saw the many gorgeous photos Amanda took of Meeseeks, many of them thought the pix were fakes (which, of course, they weren't). Amanda paid special attention to Meeseeks, who was tinier than the rest of the bunch, and with proper care, he grew into a big boy and followed Amanda around the house.
After a few months, it was time for the kittens to be adopted. Amanda eventually found homes for all the kittens, but couldn't give Meeseeks up. So Meeseeks became a "foster failure," and Amanda decided to adopt him herself.
Even though all the kitties recovered from a bout of distemper prior to their adoption, Meeseeks was smaller and less developed, so he was still reeling weeks later. Amanda took him to a vet where the tiny plush kitty was diagnosed with feline gastrointestinal eosinophilic sclerosing fibroplasia. Bad as that may sound, the condition is actually manageable, so Meeseeks continued to live a normal life with Amanda.
As Meeseeks grew bigger, his true personality emerged—that of an energetic, loving cat. He's very attached to Amanda and loves nothing more than to play around with his mommy all day long.
Now a fully-grown and purrfectly content adult cat, Meeseeks has grown into quite a handsome boy. Find Meeseeks' Instagram profile and enjoy the pics … just don't call him a plush!
